The Odenwald is a UNESCO Geopark and the site sits right inside it. From the Felsenmeer to Heidelberg, much of it is a day trip - some of it only takes a morning.

Yes. Well-marked footpaths start directly at the campsite and lead through forests and valleys with wide views. Within reach are the Tromm with the Himmelsleiter and the Nibelungensteig trail.
The Felsenmeer for climbing, the Odenwaldbob summer toboggan run, the Erlenbach mountain animal park and the Abenteuer Wald ropes course. In the rain, the Buchen cave and the indoor play centre in Mörlenbach work well.
Heidelberg is a classic day trip from the site and easy to reach through the Neckar valley. If you want to break up the drive, stop at Neckarsteinach and Hirschhorn on the way.
